In New Zealand, Adult ADHD assessments are not publicly funded. We know this makes things harder and we are doing our best to offer a high-quality service while being mindful of the cost.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does an assessment cost?
It depends on how comprehensive the assessment needs to be — this is always discussed between you and the doctor. A comprehensive assessment is about understanding how many factors are contributing to your difficulties, and ruling co-existing diagnoses in or out (ADHD rarely comes alone).
Our specialist appointments are charged at $287.50 per hour (Clinical Psychologist) and $517.50 per hour (Psychiatrist), GST inclusive.
How long does an assessment take?
It depends on how comprehensive it is. We start with a brief, free triaging consultation to work out the diagnostic and care plan that best suits your needs. If you choose to trial medication, follow-up appointments are needed to keep your treatment safe.
Do I need a referral?
A referral is best practice. It can be a general referral outlining the referrer's main reasons — it doesn't have to be addressed specifically to us.
What age do you assess from?
From childhood to middle age.
Is the assessment available by telehealth?
Not entirely — we prefer at least one face-to-face interview. For clients already diagnosed and seeking to optimise their treatment, we can deliver our services fully by telehealth.
What do I receive at the end?
Throughout the process you receive explainers, advice and instructions as needed. At the end, you receive copies of any documents sent to your GP, including diagnostic reports and treatment plans.
