Beyond the Standard Evaluation
Why Integrated?
«Is my child struggling because they can't learn the material (SLD), or because they can't focus long enough to process it (ADHD)?»
We don't just look at test scores. By integrating Psychiatry and Psychology, we examine the biological 'engine' (ADHD/Executive Function) and the academic 'output' (Reading, Writing, Math) at the same time.
Unlike traditional educational assessments, our integrated approach allows for a formal clinical diagnosis of ADHD and/or Specific Learning Disorders (SLD) in a single process. This means your child can transition directly from assessment to medical or therapeutic support without being referred elsewhere.
Understanding Psycho-Educational Evaluations
A psycho-educational evaluation is a detailed assessment of a student’s cognitive abilities, academic skills, and emotional well-being. These evaluations help identify learning patterns to address weaknesses and build on strengths. Through this process, it is also possible to identify specific learning difficulties and complement a neurodevelopmental diagnosis such as ASD or ADHD. These evaluations are crucial because they guide us on the best support and services the student may need. Psycho-educational evaluations are standardised, which means your student's scores are compared to those of their peers of the same age and gender, providing a clear picture of their unique needs.

Assessment Procedure
Integrated Clinical & ADHD Diagnosis
While the psychoeducational testing looks at how the student learns, our integrated clinical process looks at the neurobiological factors that influence their day-to-day life.
Medical & Educational Synergy: You receive a comprehensive document that serves as both a Clinical Diagnosis and a Learning Profile.
· Direct Access to Medication & Care: Skip the secondary referral waitlists. Our integrated model means your Psychiatrist is already familiar with your case.
· NZQA & University Ready: Our integrated reports carry the clinical weight required for Special Assessment Conditions (SAC) and tertiary disability support.
· The School Visit Advantage: Our team observes your child in their natural environment to ensure clinical findings translate into real-world classroom success.
The One-Stop Advantage: Why Psychiatry + Psychology Matters
The "Integrated" Advantage
Why Psychiatry Changes the Game Most psychoeducational assessments are limited to educational psychology. At our clinic, we believe you can’t fully understand a student's learning without understanding their neurobiology.
-
Clinical Authority: Unlike standalone educational tests, our reports include a formal medical diagnosis from a Psychiatrist. This is the "gold standard" recognized by the Ministry of Health and school boards.
-
A Clear Medical Pathway: Because our Psychiatrist is involved from day one, you don't have to start over at a new clinic to discuss medication or clinical treatment. We bridge the gap between "identifying the struggle" and "starting the solution" in one seamless process.
-
Differentiating 'Can't' vs. 'Won't': Our psychiatric review helps distinguish between learning disabilities (like Dyslexia) and neurodevelopmental barriers (like ADHD or Anxiety). This ensures the support your child gets is actually targeting the right root cause.
The Long-Term Impact of an Integrated Assessment
Beyond the initial diagnosis, this process provides a foundation for lifelong success and self-understanding:
Diagnostic Clarity & Early Intervention
-
We don’t just identify "struggles"; we diagnose the root cause - whether it’s a Learning Disorder (Dyslexia, Dyscalculia) or a Neurodevelopmental condition like ADHD or Autism. This allows for medical and educational support to start when it matters most.
A Blueprint for Learning & Career
-
We help you identify not just what is hard, but how you learn best. This guides subject choices, university paths, and career planning, ensuring you choose environments where your brain can thrive.
Academic Accommodations (SAC & Tertiary)
For students from Year 3 through to University, our reports are the key to accessing Special Assessment Conditions (SAC), such as extra time, assistive technology, or note-taking support.
Strengths-Based Self-Awareness
One of the greatest benefits is the shift in self-esteem. Replacing "I'm lazy" or "I'm not smart" with a clear understanding of your cognitive profile empowers you to advocate for yourself at school and in the workplace.
Targeted Strategies for Teachers & Employers
-
We translate complex data into practical strategies. This ensures educators and managers understand your learning style and can adapt their methods to support your specific needs.
