What does it mean by one diagnosis solves all?

Our comprehensive diagnostic assessment identifies all neurodevelopmental difficulties in a single evaluation process, allowing us to diagnose conditions such as ADHD, Autism, tics, dyslexia, emotional disorders and more, recognising that these often co-occur. We also offer psychoeducation and medication as a separate part of our service conducted by our psychiatrist.

With over 45 years of combined expertise, we are committed to offering thorough and integrated care for neurodevelopmental disorders by streamlining our evaluation into a all-in-one approach.

What happens after the assessment and diagnosis?

You may start therapy (psychology).

Or you may opt for a medication trial. This will have to be followed up by way of medication reviews that usually take 30 minutes of psychiatry time. You will be billed for the actual time of each review; charges include notetaking and any indirect time spent by the doctor (emailing, phone calls, etc.)

The GP will require prescription instructions from the psychiatrist. Our psychiatrist hands over your repeat prescriptions to your GP only after your medication reviews are completed and your medication regimen is finalised.

How can I get repeat prescriptions?

When the doctor tells you that no other follow-up appointments are going to be scheduled, email prescriptions@behavioural-health.com to request repeat scripts at no cost to you (fee-free). When the doctor notifies you that your care is handed over to your GP, you must request scripts only from your surgery.

Any other prescriptions cost $34.5 (GST incl) when they are issued outside of a psychiatric appointment.

What is the cost and time involved in ADHD/ASD assessments?

Our psychologist's hourly rate is $287.5 (GST incl.) and our psychiatrist's hourly rate is $517.5 (GST incl.)

Diagnosis by Psychologist – minimum 5 hours – Starting from $1,437.70

Differential Diagnosis and  Treatment by Psychiatrist – minimum 2.5 hours – Starting from $1,293.75

Why is a medication review necessary? How many follow-ups are needed?

Follow-up appointments (medication reviews) are important to monitor the effectiveness of treatment, adjust medications, and address any new or ongoing concerns. Without follow-up, there is a risk of missing important aspects of your response to a drug, which can compromise your safety.

How do you make a diagnosis?

At Behavioural Health, we are committed to evidence-based practice and thorough assessments. We follow the clinical guidelines endorsed by the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists. These guidelines combine the best available research with multidisciplinary clinical expertise and respect the preferences of those with lived experience. They give clear advice to ensure care is safe, effective, and suited to each person's needs.

Our transdisciplinary approach integrates both psychological and medical expertise, ensuring each evaluation is holistic and tailored to the individual’s unique circumstances and background, offering a balanced and accurate diagnosis.
